About Open Heaven
Open Heaven is a simple initiative, uniting Christians across the many churches of Coventry, to get out onto the streets of the city during the month of June 2021, as we raise the value of prayer together.
The initiative follows many years of prayer-walking in Coventry by some, and the first ‘Open Heaven’ initiative in June 2020, when every street in CV1-CV6 was covered in prayer. The initiative builds upon the existing work of unity among the churches of our city, exampled by prayer gatherings such as City Praise and Prayer, and a significant number of inter-church compassion and outreach projects that serve the city.
Simply put, we passionately believe that prayer changes things! We believe God wants the bless and impact our city. We believe that next-level united prayer has a crucial part to play as we look to see our city revived and transformed for the glory of God.

Open Heaven 2021 is being launched after consultation with a significant number of church leaders in Coventry and the full endorsement of Bishop Christopher Cocksworth (Bishop of Coventry), Father Tom Farrell (Catholic Dean of Coventry) and HOPE Coventry (an umbrella organisation that exists ‘to enable Coventry churches together to transform our city with the love and power of Jesus Christ’).

Getting Involved
If your church is involved, we would firstly encourage you to speak to your church leader, to see if there is a particular way your church is seeking to engage with Open Heaven.
Of course, there is nothing to stop you prayer-walking any street at any time, but in order for us to co-ordinate our efforts, we would ask you to:
1. Download the Open Heaven Guide and take a quick look (see the Resources section of this website).
2. Use the Open Heaven App (see App section) to select the streets you would like to cover.
3. Join with at least one other person and pray while walking those streets.
4. Use the App to confirm when those streets have been covered.
5. If you sense God speaking to you about the area where you prayer walk, we would love to hear about that. Please email us on feedback@openheavencoventry.org remembering to include your name, your church and where you walked.
